Sex life in the Middle East took a decided turn for the worse recently. Convervative officials at Al-Azhar university interfered arbitrarily with the academic freedom of an Al-Azhar cleric, Ezzat Attiya, the head of Al-Azhar's Department of Hadith. Attiya had issued a very forward looking Fatwa that ruled that adult men could breast-feed from female work colleagues as a way to avoid breaking Islamic rules that forbid men and women from being alone together. Yummy! "The work family that nurses together, stays together" seems to sum up his views.
His ruling was intended to allow women to work in close proximity to men, a practice generally forbidden in Islam. Breastfeeding of a child is considered to establish a family bond in Islamic law, such that children nursed by the same mother cannot marry. Attiya argued that if a man nursed from a co-worker, it would establish a family bond between them and allow them work side-by-side without raising suspicion of hanky-panky.
A sad day for academic freedom in the Middle East! A veritable Nakba for hanky-panky in Egypt. Not since Rabbi Ovadia Yossef ruled that the urine of women is kosher have we seen such an intelligent religious ruling.

Where did u find this fatwa? in rubbish bin? this is ridiculous. There isn't a Muslim man can publish this fatwa even if he is a big sinner. This fatwa implicitly says that, if every one did this if he wished, then there will be no more couple that can marry ever...
And it explicitly says that, Sex is valid in some cases rather than being married... and that can't be valid in Islam... simply, for man be able to breast feed by a female (not his wife), then she must uncover her breasts... and thats totally forbidden.
I swear that he didn't say that, and if he did then he s not a Muslim... because he says that Allah says something wrong, or at least, we can safely do what Allah rejects... and in both cases he is not a Muslim (a Muslim is not a word in the ID, it is a religious belief).
So don't be silly and say somethings u don't know just in order to insult Islam... I think it is better than that, and even if we says that there is Islam, and there isn't, we wont say sth like this that tells all the world that we believe in nonsense.
STOP HATING WITHOUT REASONS, AND STOP INSULTING WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE BASE. lets live in peace.

Dear brother Maher,
I am neither an Imam nor a Muslim. I saw a news item and I commented on it. If you thought it is not true, then you should have checked the original article, as well as some other sources, before blaming me.
Nobody wrote that all Muslims believe this, but it is apparently a fact that this Fatwa was issued.
It was the subject of discussion in the New York Times and in Egyptian media as well:
In the NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/12/world/middleeast/12fatwa.html
it states regarding the breast feeding Fatwa and another about drinking urine:
"For the past few weeks, the breast-feeding and urine fatwas have proved a source of national embarrassment in Egypt, not least because they were issued by representatives of the highest religious authorities in the land.
“We were very angered when we heard about the Danish cartoons concerning our prophet; however, these two fatwas are harming our Islamic religion and our prophet more than the cartoons,” Galal Amin, a professor of economics at the American University in Cairo, wrote in Al Masry Al Yom, a daily newspaper here."
***
From that we must conclude that the Fatwas were indeed issued. If not, then take it up with Galal Amin and Al Masry Al Youm.
You wrote, "I swear that he didn't say that,"
Now it seems that you have sworn a false oath, which is contrary to all religions. Your anger caused you to err in your judgement and to transgress against your religion.
So don't be silly and say something that you don't know, and deny the truth, and swear false oaths, just because you are angry.
Remember also the injunction about not hating the next time a rabbi, or a Christian holy man says or writes something that you think is wrong. It doesn't mean that all Jews or Christians believe it.
Go in peace my brother.
Salam Aleikum Warahmatulahi,
