DGB President Michael Sommer recently told a German newspaper that calls for boycott measures are reminiscent of the Nazi slogan, "Don't Shop at Jewish Stores!"
(The sign says "German! Beware! Don't buy from Jews!")

"Beware" works fine as a translation. "Bewarian" is the Anglo-Saxon (Old English) for "defend", which is closely related to "wehren", the German word for "defend" and then there's also "bewehren", meaning "to arm" or "armor".
