Letter Addressed by Damascus Declaration Beirut Chapter To the Jews of the World
Washington DC - October 18, 2007/Damascus DeclarationThe negative prevailing situation in the Middle East in terms of deterioration of peace, security and stability as well as the spread of hatred and animosity among its people is yielding serious repercussions on humanity worldwide.
The concern of the international community in facing terrorist organizations eventually enabled dictatorial regimes to take advantage of terrorist cells notably their creation, preparation and employment within its hegemonic plan for the region and by fiendish, machiavellic means. Indeed, it proceeds on the one hand to extradite some terrorists to countries combating terrorism and on the other hand, it covertly harbors and provides support to such cells by all direct and indirect means, exporting them through its open borders despite of their exposure to the world. For instance, Fateh El Islam Chief Chaker El Absi in addition to Abou Al Qaaqaa, Abou Hurairat "Chehab Kaddour" and Abou Salim Taha are merely a few examples of such use.
Before the advent of absolutist parties and dictatorships, our Arab countries were a perfect model for brotherhood, clemency and coexistence of the three monotheistic religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism. It used to face domestic and external threats under the banner of defense of the homeland for its citizens. One of the most wonderful expressions of such clemency, brotherhood, coexistence, and concern on making homelands for its citizens was the joint confrontation of French occupation and achieving their great withdrawal from the homeland as well as the fair, effective participation of all creeds in the Syrian Parliament. The attempts of the Syrian dictatorial regime to figure as the vanguard of coexistence between creeds are fictitious and misleading. True coexistence is originally intrinsic in Syrian society.
The advent of the absolutist dictatorial Baasist party to rule under the banners of confrontation of Israeli aggression and occupation was a deceitful cover for usurpation of power by coup d'état, making secret deals and concessions with the Israeli enemy on the homeland and the Syrian people's dignity. Thus, the preservation of such deals and concessions has become a necessity for its survival.
This dictatorial party does not seek true peace and is not making an effort to promote peace. In fact, it is making use of the instigative revolutionary speech and educating generations on hatred and animosity as a cover for its survival and continuity.
Israeli politicians are committing the biggest mistakes against their people and the peoples in the region with their ongoing antagonism and secret dealings with the corrupt, dynastic, dictatorial Syrian regime and the absence of an upright, national, democratic Syrian opponent having the capacity and legitimacy to urge the international community to implement its resolutions in support of the Arab initiative for peace.
Therefore, we ask the Jews worldwide to adopt an outspoken and explicit stance in order to pressure Israeli politicians and make them stop their ongoing antagonism in the region as well as suspend all forms of covert communications and agreements with the two-faced Syrian regime and its double standard policies.
The security for Israel allegedly provided by such agreements is a short-lived security bearing unforeseeable repercussions for the entire region.
The ordeals of the Jewish people under Nazi oppression and dictatorship should be sufficient motive for not supporting the corrupt dictatorship that creates terrorism and extremism, exports it to regional countries and disseminates hatred among peoples for staying in power.
The Syrian people longs for the recovery of its land and rights, the return of peace and democracy as well as the peaceful coexistence between monotheistic religions, thus in a global framework of total and just peace, security and prosperity in the region.
