I would like to respond to "Why Jews left Arab Lands" a Progressive Sephardic view by David Shasha.

Allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Israel Bonan, I am a Mizrahi Jew. I was born in Cairo, Egypt in the mid 1940s. I was expelled from Egypt in 1967, and left with a torn shirt on my back, and a pair of mangled glasses, broken intentionally, on my face, and with very little else.

Israel 'Hasbara' (advocacy) that Hurts

Israelis and supporters of Israel are angry over Barack Obama's treatment of Israel. A poll shows that only 6% of Jewish Israelis think that Obama is pro-Israel, about 50% think he is pro-Palestinian, and 36% think he is neutral.

Hands off Iran, please!

The recent events in Iran have prompted some people to call for American intervention or pressure on Iran. Bret Stephens likens Iran to Hungary, which revolted against the USSR in 1956 and calls for US intervention, presumably in favor of Mr Mir Hossein Mousavi and his supporters. Abe Foxman of the ADL said he had "not heard America embrace Mir Hossein Mousavi." Malcom Hoenlein of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations said, "When do the young people feel they've been abandoned" by the West?"

Only Ahmadinejad is Good for the Jews

Israel was handed a free gift in the blatantly fraudulent Iranian elections. Had there been even a semblance of democratic procedure and credible results, there is no doubt that all the world would have rallied in support of the wonderful Iranian democracy. (see Iranian Elections - It could have been worse. As it is, even Robert Fisk could not stomach the brutality of Iranian police, though he gave a strong hint of what world reaction would have been like if Mir Hossein Mousavi had been elected.

Israel and the US: What Special Relationship?

The "special relationship," under various names such as "strategic alliance" and "unbreakable bond", between Israel and the United States, is very much in the news these days. Yoram Ettinger and Shlomo Ben-Ami think it is very hard to break this relationship. Caroline Glick thinks it is already broken. In his Cairo speech, Barack Obama himself said:

America's strong bonds with Israel are well known. This bond is unbreakable. It is based upon cultural and historical ties, and the recognition that the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history that cannot be denied.
