 Summary of main Qassam rocket attacks on Israel

Friday June 9th (nine rockets were launched at Israel)

·  Palestinians launched two Qassam rockets at Israel, which landed in the city of Sderot.

 Saturday June 10th  ( 34 rockets were launched)

·  Palestinians fired an anti-tank missile towards forces patrolling near the security fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip north of Kerem Shalom. The missile did not explode and was detonated in a controlled manner by IDF sappers.

·  Palestinians fired a shower of 10 Mortar Shells at Israel, nine of which landed in Israel.

 

Sunday June 11th ( 26 rockets were launched)

·  An Israeli man was severely wounded by a Qassam rocket which landed near a school in the city of Sderot. Qassams landed several times near educational centers in the city, including an attack on May21st, when a rocket hit a classroom in the city. Luckily, the class was empty at the time.  

·  An Israeli man was wounded on a road near Sderot by shrapnel after a Qassam exploded near him.

·  Two women were lightly injured after a Qassam rocket landed a few meters from them in the city of Sderot.

·  Palestinians launched two Qassam rockets at Israel, one of which landed in Sderot's industrial zone.

·  A house in the Kibutz Nahal Oz suffered a direct hit by a Qassam rocket. Luckily, the residents of the house were not there at the time of the attack.

·  A chicken coop in the Nahal Oz Kibutz was damaged after it suffered a hit.

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 15TH (AT LEAST 7 ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·  One rocket hit the roof of a factory in Sderot’s industrial area. Three workers were injured and a lot of damage was caused to the building.

 

SUNDAY/MONDAY, JUNE 18TH-19TH (2 ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·  Palestinian terrorists fire two Qassams at southern Israel, leaving sections of Sderot without electricity for several days.  

MONDAY, JUNE 19TH (2 ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·  Palestinian terrorists fire two Qassams at Sderot during a visit by President Moshe Katzav and Defense Minister Amir Peretz. One woman is lightly injured.


MONDAY, JUNE 26TH (1 ROCKET IS LAUNCHED)

·  Palestinian terrorists fire a Qassam at Sderot. Four civilians are lightly wounded by shrapnel and a number of residents suffer from shock. The impact causes a blackout in the area. 

FRIDAY, JULY 7TH (7 ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·       Two Kassam rockets fell on Sderot on Friday afternoon. One of the Kassams fell in the city's central market, wounding seven. Three people were hit by shrapnel from the rocket, while four were in shock. Three of the wounded were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital. The second rocket landed in an empty soccer field.

SUNDAY, JULY 16TH (TEN ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·       Qassams were launched towards the western Negev. Light damage was caused to buildings, a fire broke out and one Sderot resident was lightly wounded. Two of the rockets fell in Sderot. Later, around 10:00 one rocket fell south of Netivot in an open area. Another rocket fell south of Kfar Maimon. At 19:00 one rocket fell north of Kibbutz Nahal Oz; no damage was done and no one was injured. At 20:00 three rockets landed near Carmit and Kibbutz Zikkim and one more fell in south Ashqelon, near a sensitive facility. Two more rockets were fired over night, lightly injuring one civilian.

THURSDAY, JULY 27 (5 ROCKETS WERE LAUNCHED)

·       Thursday night five Qassams were fired towards Sderot and the Shaar Hanegev region. No one was wounded.

FRIDAY, JULY 28TH

·       Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip fired Qassam rockets towards Sderot at 7:00 a.m. Friday. The rockets landed on streets in the center of town. No one was wounded and no damage was caused. At 10:45 one rocket fell in a kindergarten near Kibbutz Zikkim. Two children were lightly injured and eight more suffered anxiety attacks.

MONDAY, AUGUST 14TH (ONE UPGRADED ROCKET WAS LAUNCHED)

·       One rocket was fired towards Ashqelon. After investigation, it was verified that it was an upgraded Grad Qassam rocket with an improved ability to hit long distance targets. It hit the Marina in Ashqelon. The group of Palestinian launchers was hit by the IDF and was destroyed.

FRIDAY, JULY 28

·       Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip fired Qassam rockets towards Sderot at 7:00 a.m. Friday. The rockets landed on streets in the center of town. No one was wounded and no damage was caused. One rocket fell in near a kindergarten near Kibbutz Zikkim. Two children were lightly injured and eight people went through anxiety attacks.

MONDAY, AUGUST 14TH (ONE ROCKET WAS LAUNCHED)

 ·  28.06.04 – Afik Ohion Zehavi, age 4, killed when a rocket landed in his nursery school in Sderot.

 ·  28.06.04 – Mordechai Yosephus, age 49, was killed when a rocket landed in a kindergarten in Sderot.

 ·  29.09.04 – Dorit Inso, age 2, killed when two rockets hit her residence building.

 ·  29.09.04 – Yuval Abeva, age 4, killed when two rockets hit his residence building.

 ·  15.01.05 – Ayala Haya Abukasis, age 17, killed when a rocket landed in Sderot.

 ·  15.07.05 – A 22-year-old female was killed by a rocket that landed in a house in Nativ Ha'asara, whilst visiting a friend.

 

September 2005 – the IDF completes its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip

 

·  28.03.06 – a 17-year-old Bedouin and his father were killed by a rocket in the Nahal Oz area.

·  24.11.01 – Sgt 1st Class Medmon Barak, age 26, killed when several mortar shells landed in the Neve Dekalim area

 ·  28.10.04 – Sgt. Michael Tsadik, killed when a mortar shell landed near an army base.

 ·  14.12.04 – Assa Tap Tachkilda, killed when a mortar shell landed in the Ganei Tal greenhouse perimeter.

 ·  02.01.05 – Nissim Arbiv, killed when a mortar shell landed in the Erez Industrial Zone.

 ·  07.06.05 – Salah Ameran, age 55, killed when a mortar shell landed in the Ganei Tal greenhouse perimeter.

 ·  07.06.05 – Sue da Be, killed when a mortar shell landed in the Ganei Tal greenhouse perimeter.
