Who killed 80,000 Muslims recently, imprisoned thousand more and brutally occupied and de-facto annexed their country? Israel? no. USA? Try again. Remarkably, no UN debate ensued. If Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International made a fuss about it, nobody noticed. No boycotts of Russia were organized. No embassies were burned. Muslims did not demonstrate against the enslavement and murder of their co-religionists by the racist warmongers.
The country is Chechnya, the imperialist colonialist crusader expansionist aggressor is Russia. The leader who was NOT pictured in the Independent eating Muslim babies is Vladimir Putin, ex-KGB officer of the Soviet Union, carrying on in the honorable and progressive traditions of Stalin's "Nationalities policy" - a euphemism for genocide.
From Newsweek:
The rest of the world may not have noticed, but Russia's president has won the Chechen war. He did not start it, but he prosecuted it with the full might of Russia's military. The conflict was as brutal as any Europe has known in the last century. Grozny was bombed flat, along with half of Chechnya's towns. Nearly a million Chechens were displaced; 80,000 were killed, mostly civilians, and thousands more disappeared into a nightmarish network of Russian "filtration" camps, never to be seen again. There were atrocities, mass killings, the most flagrant of human-rights abuses. Yet all the while the Kremlin claimed that the conflict was little more than a police operation.
Something to think about, for those who insist on the fiction of international law.

It is the same old Soviet Union, but only smaller. Never mind the name "Russa". The brutality will continue to go on, even on its own citizens and Jews.
